17TH CENTURY CUIRASSIERS

I managed, with the help of by fellow brigand, to get some of the warlord games ECW/30 years war cuirssiers, second hand but new and in box, half price.

This is one of the first warlord games boxes when the models are equal to great box work in the image they put across.
The same horse sprue that warlord use for most of their plastic ECW cavalry.

The riders and arms and stuff come in a bag. I was worried to find that some of the swords and arms where quite bent. But they were very easy to put back in to shape.

Flags and information sheet.
The bases are a bit wider then the ones that come in their other cavalry sets, being 25mm across instead of 20mm.
I like this as it makes them stand out a lot more and makes them look much more impressive.
Some close ups of the riders. You get no command except the trumpeter and have to make it from the men.
There are three poses, not counting the trumpeter. Of the three poses, you get three of one (because of the trumpeter) and four of the other two poses.
In my case I got three of the guy beside the trumpeter and four of each of the other ones.
The one I got three of (with a close helm on) had a thing that you stick the end of a flag pole into on your stirrup. (I know not the name...)
But this would imply that this is meant to be the ensign.

The box has a good selection of arms, six with pistol and six with sword and two with war hammer (or horse man's hammer) and a pistol revised for use on a foe's head!
Also trumpet for trumpeter and lance for ensign.
All the arm spues have a plume as well for making your command more commandy.

I twisted this man's head a bit so that they where not all looking ahead.

All in all this is one of the best sets I have. The sense of Heavy Cavalry you get from these figures is great. The pictures do not do them justice. A ten out of ten for sculpting, but you have to do a little cleaning up, mould lines but no flash. A great set .
