Battle of the plains of Wattonford

Today was meant to be the next part of our 1912 campaign, however owing to illness my opponent was not able to come (a curse seemed to have dogged the british ever since the dog ate the army... long story). So I caught a bus to my local GW store and had a game against the manager's army just so i didn't disapoint you readers. (and by the way this has naught to do with war in wattonford)

Aelfric Cyenwulf's host of magic
Aelfric cyenwulf, sorcerer lord of tzeentch on disc and warrior familiar Barble
Surtha Lenk, sorcerer of slaanesh
Saprotrogus, sorcerer of nurgle
5 marauder horsemen
5 marauder horsemen
5 marauder horsemen
5 marauder horsemen
5 marauder horsemen
14 forsaken
5 chaos knights
giant

Lazzarus Vangheist's Legion of Wattonford and Tzeentch's chosenGhoul king Lazzarus Vangheist
Necromancer Scottus II in corpse cart
Necromancer Christofen
40 skeleton warriors
20 crypt ghouls
5 hexwraiths
6 crypt horors
Mortis engine
Terrorgheist

We join the battle at this point, I have already lost eleven marauder horsemen and the vampiric force is basically intact. But as aelfricc cyenwulf releases another wave of pandemonium throughout the necromantic minds all is not lost yet.

The terrorgheist and cryot horrors easily pumelled their way into the marauder horse before overrunning into the chaos knights, but would the knightsbe their doom??  The hexwraiths had by now returned from off the board edge and started to slaughter their way through more inocent marauders. The skeletons had also defeated thier opponents and overran into the giant and forsaken, but with the giant taking only two wounds to seventeen smashed up skelingtons.
Christoffen then raised a unit of eleven zombies in charging range of the three wizards but they all moved out the way, this had the added effect of setting off pandemonium causing Christoffen to forget how to use magic... all that was left was a man with a stick.

The chaos knights had done Slaanesh proud by now and had torn apart three crypt horrors leaving another wounded... but the terrorghesists scream was to much for them and all four popped thier heads off. Previously i have only experienced terrorgheists killing a lone mangler squig or four outriders and a couple of greatswords, the most i'd ever seen one kill was a riderless griffon so this was a shock to me... but then this was lazzarus' terrorgheist not rashkar's.
It was looking rather forlorn... but not all was lost yet, though he was on two wounds and about to be charged by the zombies, the hex wraiths and the mortis engine the giant and the forsaken had just finished smashing up the remaining twenty three skeletons before being charged. The last marauder horseman was finally slain by the hexwraiths but he had done his job at holding thm back.
Aelfric then got into a fight with christoffen and easily slaid the magicless necromancer (ie man with stick).

The giant then got hit by the zombies before being knocked out dead by the mortis engine field thing, while the forsaken got flank charged by hexwraiths and massacred. Then the terrorgheist charged saprotrogus, and the nurgling bolted the table.
Now i had but two heroes left standing for the glory of tzeentch and slaanesh...

And they went down fighting, as they charged the mortis engine, inflicting many wounds with warrior familiars and discs flying every where but then the corpse cart and hexwraiths cut them down to size....

A bitter defeat for the warriors of chaos, and to think I could have been shooting up some British and shouting vive la france rather than "censored" for the "censored" god and glory to slaanesh...

As it is easter holdiays expect to see a whole loadof GW in store blog posts (and not much else), next time more war in wattonford, three monsters and a wizard each
