I also took a Mark IV male. Very good armour and quite good shooting ad visibility its speed was average as was its CC but its trench crossing was quite good. It was a rather average tank and not an obvious choice.
My Tiny French FT 17 (the first turreted tank seen on the field) and Mark IV male line up for their try at the trenches.
As the British steered their mark IV along the road towards the trenches, however they failed to site the German grenadiers in the Cafe and they lept out and chucked their grenades at it, damaging it with the explosives.
The FT 17 on the other side was also ambushed by German grenadiers, who lept out of one of the craters and also damaged it.
The damaged Mark IV quickly abandoned the road, leaving the German grenadiers to disapear back into the ruins, as the German tank appeared trundling along the road.
The German storm troopers continued to attack the FT 17 blowing off it's tracks and leaving it to be ditched by its crew! It was not looking too good for my objective as the French ditched their tank, leaving but one damaged Mark IV to deal with the entire German force still intact
As the Mark IV approached the barbed wire it came under assualt from four more German grenadiers, who stunned the crewmen and damaged the guns with their explosives.
Whilst the Mark IV was immobile four more German grenadiers lept out from one of the ruins behind the tank and ran to assualt the Mark IV before it got going for the trench again.
They quickly threw their bombs at it and blew the crew out, leaving the ruined tank on the barbed wire with my objectives incomplete.
Obviously my overconfidence with the FT 17 and Mark IV had not worked out.
